Discount Wedding Packages are designed for smaller Maui weddings of 8 or less people.
On the mainland, you would probably consider
a larger wedding to be one with several hundred guests. A small
wedding would probably be any affair with less than a hundred
people.

Even with these small fees, our larger wedding services are MUCH
less expensive than the wedding packages offered by the resorts.

Larger weddings are also more likely to
have receptions. We can help you prepare a great reception, including
everything from entertainment, catering, and a portable dance
floor.

the wedding are charged a change fee (plus the cost of the
services ordered).

To avoid incurring change fees, please plan
ahead. All arrangements should be completed four weeks prior
to the wedding.
Because there is much more work involved
to coordinate larger weddings, we ask for a larger non-refundable
deposit. This allows us to put in the kind of time
necessary to insure that your wedding will be a success.

Things
to Consider with Larger Maui Weddings
When the number of people in attendance rises,
there are inevitably logistics issues to consider. This is important
because we want you to have the best possible wedding experience.
We've written this page to help you think
through several different issues that may tend to impact your larger
or more formal wedding. By thinking through these potential
difficulties you can plan more effectively and problems. We want
your wedding to go smoothly.
Time. The larger a wedding is, the more time it takes
to make certain everything will come together properly. Large
weddings require more coordination to prepare, more time for
photography and videography, more time to cut the cake and pour
the glasses for all the toasts. There are more people to inform
about the order of service, a bigger need to move people from
one point to another and to take pictures of it all.
Directions. With larger groups there can be traffic issues. If you
have a large party, and everyone is coming separately to the site,
they will need to know where that site is. With medium sized
weddings, we often will meet the wedding couple and a small train of
vehicles who we lead to the wedding site. As you can image, when
there are more than six cars, leading everyone to through traffic
can becomes much more difficult.
The more people you have, the more likely it
becomes that someone important will get lost and be late to the site.
We've seen parties where the groom had to spend a whole day picking
up relatives from the airport because family members had not booked
rental vehicles for themselves. This is all the more reason you (or
someone you designate) should coordinate your party to and from the
wedding site. Having a private site will insure that you can give
more specific directions to your party along with maps.
If you're having a sunset wedding, time is an extremely important
factor. Remember,
that the sun will set on schedule, whether or not we are all ready for
it. This is a very important reason to try to be on time. Being late
can add pressure to get your photography and your videography
completed while the conditions are most favorable. We schedule one and a half hours
for small weddings; but more time is always necessary and
available for larger groups.
Weather Problems. If you are attempting to have a sunset wedding
on a public beach and it rains (which it sometimes does here
in paradise), we may also be forced to move to another beach location
where it is not raining. The larger the party, the more difficult
this becomes. Leading a procession of rental cars up the highway
will take time away from your sunset photographs.
Site Availability.
Larger weddings take a bigger risk when held in public locations. Because all beaches
are public, other weddings or other events may take the spot
you desire to use for your wedding. With a public beach or public
park site there is no guarantee that you will be able to use
the location you desire. Also, the County and State are becoming more
restrictive over large groups that might overwhelm public beaches.
It could mean that your wedding party might need to travel to another location.
With a large party, this might be a bit of an ordeal. When you have
a private
site, dedicated to just your use, you will be assured that you won't
have this problem.
Photography. Larger parties have more family and wedding party
photographs to take. The larger the family, the more combinations
there are to shoot. Because our smaller photo packages are designed
for just the wedding couple and a few close friends, a larger
party will have LESS romantic shots available then a smaller
party. So we recommend that you upgrade your photography
to accommodate all those extra photos.
Formal
Maui Weddings
Other factors that will add time is the level
of formalness
of your wedding. Here are some things to consider:
The Secluded Bride.
Many brides desire to stay out
of view of their fiancé until the moment of their entry at the
wedding site. While this is easy and normal at a mainland wedding,
you'll find this is much more difficult on the beach and it adds at
least 20 minutes to our on-site coordination time.
If you are coming in separate cars, there
will need to coordinate between the two of you. This often necessitates
the need for us to travel back and forth between the bride and
the groom to find out what is desired, then communicate that
to rest of the party. Again, all of this takes time.
Rehearsals. Very few weddings are big enough to require a rehearsal.
We will often just sketch out a plan for the wedding party, showing
where the musicians, videographer, father of the bride and the
minister will all be standing and how they will enter. Again,
this planning can take time away from your sunset photography
and videography.
In the event your wedding is large enough
to warrant the extra time and expense of having a rehearsal,
our services can be booked for an extra night (or earlier in
the day). For rehearsals, keep several things in mind:
1) There will be a rehearsal fee.
2) Be sure to book the rehearsal on our
calendar.
3) Be sure the majority of your wedding
party, (especially those who are standing up at the wedding)
will be able to attend the rehearsal. (This is difficult because
people may be flying in from the mainland on different flights
with different schedules.)
4) If you have a private site, you may
need to book the site for your rehearsal and there will likely
be a separate fee for this use.
Videography. If you are having a video taken of your more formal
wedding, it will inevitably need to be longer than most of our
videos for smaller weddings. Please order the next larger video
package.
